About John Schroeter
At the heart of Schroeter's musical journey is his love for the guitar. His book, Between the Strings: The Secret Lives of Guitars, with introduction by B.B. King, features one hundred short stories, with tales from Les Paul to Peter Frampton—narratives of inspiring experiences and remarkable outcomes linked by the celebration of life with the guitar.
As the founding publisher of Fingerstyle Guitar magazine, Schroeter created a platform to elevate and amplify fingerstyle guitar playing. Schroeter's award-winning work as a producer includes collaborations with Phil Keaggy, Earl Klugh, B.B. King, Chet Atkins, and many others. He is also the creator and curator of the Tonewood Masters Guitar Collection, whose mission is to not only feature the extraordinary instruments in a permanent and growing exhibit, but to release the stored energy in these special guitars to do meaningful work in the world, including, for example, the Tonewood Masters Mentors program.
Beyond music, Schroeter has made significant contributions to technology and media. He holds numerous patents in various technologies. His industry experience spans semiconductors, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and clinical research technologies. As Executive Director at Abundant World Institute, he leads efforts to address global challenges through innovation, always in pursuit of the good, the true, and the beautiful.
Schroeter edited After Shock, commemorating the 50-year anniversary of Alvin Toffler's Future Shock, with contributions from Ray Kurzweil, Martin Rees, Alan Kay, George Gilder and many others. He co-authored Moonshots—Creating a World of Abundance, with foreword by Sir Richard Branson, and is the publisher of Popular Electronics, Mechanix Illustrated, and Popular Astronomy magazines.
